When Huck went into the Grangerford house he was very impressed. They had a nice family and lots of precious things in their house. For example (chpt17, pg 75, 2 par...'' It was a mighty nice family, and a mighty nice house, too.") Huck seen that they had a clean home and nice comfortable furniture and different kinds of antiques everywhere. They were like the perfect family. Huck was really impressed that the Grangerford family was sweet enough to allow a complete stranger into their home. He never experienced a perfect family because growing up he didnt have his mother or father around to take care of him. He liked how the family bond with each other. Huck seen that they had a clean house and nice comfortable furniture.

In the Grangerford house there were many different kinds of books everywhere. They had a special book which was the families bible that was filled with lots of pictures. It was many other different forms of books that cought Hucks attention like the medicine books, poetry books, and a few writing books, too. The books in the house tells Huck that this family is very interested in getting their education. Since Huck was so interested inseeing those books, it tells me that Huck wouldnt mind reading a few books and learning something. The aurthor of this book which is Mark Twain, must have had lots of experience with reading books too.

In one of the rooms Huck notice some drawings that was by the Grangerfords daughter. She was very sick and had passed away when she was fifthteen years old. He seen lots of articles of peoples deaths and unique pictures of her drawing and poetry. Her poems were about death and one of her pictures showed people dying. Huck discovered one picture that she was drawing but did not finish. That picture showed a person who was at the edge of a clift looking like they were going to fall off. From looking at her pictures Huck thinks that the girl was obsessed with death probably because she knew she was going to die and it was a way to express how she felt. I think Huck felt sad because he can relate to the girls feelings because they were around the same age.

There is one poem that i had read so far that i really like. The poem by Alexandra Bird. First I want to talk about Alexandra Birds poem. Her poem was great, it talked about the different kinds of feelings a person goes through when drinking. She expresses how drinking can make a person be filled with such fear and rage. She makes her words sound so real as if shes been through the pain or been around it for some time. Ive only read three poems but the ones i read doesnt sound as good as Alexandrias.

I can relate to this poem in a way but then again I cant because I havent been around a lot of people that drinks. I can relate to it because I seen my uncle while he was drunk and he looked very sad. He started to say how he shouldnt have lost his wife and how he has nothing let for him. He was very mad and filled with rage just like in the poem.

BLOG #5: FRIENDSHIP

Sometimes in our lives, we all have pain, we all have sorrow. But if we are wise, we know that there's always tomorrow. Lean on me, when you're not strong and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on, for it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on. Please swallow your pride, if have things you need to borrow. For no one can fill those needs that you won't let show. You just call on me brother when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you'll understand. We all need somebody to lean on. Lean on me when you't not strong, and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on, for it won't be long 'til I'm gonna' need somebody to lean on. ''LEAN ON ME" is one my favorite friendship song because, it tells what and how a friendship should be. This song showed me how to be a better friend. I have a best friend named Da'Juanna Gurley, and we have been friends since the second grade. When we got into the fifth grade somethings started to change between us. Even though everthing was getting complicated, we still remained friends. She would always look out for me at anytime. If I was going to get in a fight she would be there, if I didnt do my homework she would do it or convince me to do it, she is always there when Im need help. Im a very good friend. Anything she need I got her back, if she needs a shoulder to cry on then I'll give her mine. Till this day I still talk to her and the same rules apply, I will be there for her no matter what. Like the song say''when your not strong I'll help you carry on, for it wont be long til' Im gonna need sombody to lean on". This statement means that anytime you need me I'll be there because one day Im going to need you.

Huck Finn Essay #1 (1-23)

There are many moral dilemmas that Huck faces throughout this story. By Huck only being 15 years old, some of his decisions may not be the right nor the wrong ones. One of the problems Hucks has is with Jim, a slave.

Huck is a white boy who helps out a slave by not turning him in to his owner or telling anyone that he knows where Jim is at. This decision could get Huck into some seriuos trouble if any body found out. He is risking his life for Jim because he would be killed if he keeps this a secret. This situation helps Hucks character because it shows how he is developing as a man and making different choices for himself.

If I were Huck I wouldnt have told anyone about Jim either. Even though I could get in trouble, I would want Jim to know that he can trust me.

I think that the Widow Douglas has the greatest impact on Huck Finn. Even though she is not his mother she takes care of him and takes him in like he was her own son. She teaches him many positive and valuable things that he would need to know in life. For example on (par 3, pg 2, chpt 1, "Dont scrunch up like that Huckleberry sit up straight.") She likes to keep him looking nice and dressed up. She tries to keep him from smoking by telling and explaining to him how its not good and it could hurt him. The Widow Douglas also tries to encourage Huck to go to school and learn things like reading books and writing. The Widow is one of the reasons why Huck dont do certain bad things because he thinks about what would the Widow say to him if he did it.



Tom Sawyer is Hucks Finns best friend. I believe that Tom has a negative affect on Huck because he is the reason why Huck wants to do bad things. For example on (par4, pg4,chpt1, "Tom whispered to me and wanted to tie Jim to a tree for fun but I said no.") I think Huck do bad things to try and beat Tom Sawyer at being bad. Tom likes to get Huck to any thing bad just for the fun of it like trying to start a band of robbers.

I think Jim influence tries to influence Huck in a good way because he is a friend who is not all about being bad like Tom Sawyer is. Jim tells Huck whats good for him and what they shouldnt do. Huck sometimes listens because him and Jim are googd friends. Jim doesnt like to get introuble thats why he dont do anything to get in trouble or he wants Huck to get in trouble.

Pap, Hucks father I think has the mst negative influence on Huck. Pap likes to hit Huck, Drink and smoke. As his father he doesnt set any rules for Huck and let him smoke and do other things that he wants to do. He do not care if Huck goes to school or not. For example (chpt5, par2,pg15.." Looky here you drop that school, you hear?") He sometimes get mad at Huck for having a better education than him and often tries to make Huck feels bad for it.

"I used to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so much". Huck Finn p.14, ch.5, par.1. This statement means that Hucks father used to hit him when he was a child. It also means that he was always scared of his father every since he his father "jolt" him the first time. The word "Jolt" probably means hit.

The first time I read this statement I felt very bad for Huck. Beating your child is the worst thing a person could do, in my opinion. I believe that their is no reason why should want to beat on your child no matter how complicated things can get. Even though I've never been abused by my parents, I can understand how he feels emotionally. Someone who was getting abused by their parents most likely grows up to be crazy or
